Ty- Sounds like a great lake/park. Hard to forecast that far ahead, but I'd be game if others fall in line. 10-12" gills would be excellent. FRD

We have a tradition in my house; Mothers spend mothers day with the kids, Fathers spend fathers day with the kids, either way I get to go fishing. Usually I pack the kids up and make them endure camping and fishing a MN state park. Next year was loo…

I enjoy fishing with some old fiberglass "yellow" eagle claw spincast noodle rods. Managed to hold onto 4 over the years, updated them with some modern diawa gold reels and they are quite fun, nearly bending in half with a 3 inch gill

I know this sounds strange, but vintage equipment like fiberglass rods still have a place! We can talk shop and discuss why some vintage gear is just as good (if not better) than the new stuff.

I lived in Japan for 8 years and fished as often as I could, and I've gotta say that most Japanese native fish species are pretty overrated. The vast majority are either a carp, or something kind of like a carp. Certainly what we could call rough fi…

They are a very different fish I'll say that. The best I have figured so far is that they like the bottom and live bait, not to say that they wont strike an artificial, it takes some real skill though from what I can gather and I really admire those…

I am still trying to figure out how to fish for Redear. I have not had much luck with them. The seem to be pretty smart. Do you have tricks you would like to share on catching these guys? Did you happen to get the weight of any of these fish?

They fight just like a big bluegill. I am told you can eat them but haven't tried yet. The ones we caught today went to a friend who has a pet shop. I wouldn't mind trying them though. They are local to south Texas and I would imagine that they eat…

Bank access has improved since they began stocking trout back in the late 90's. As of now State regs require a trout license to fish it during the season ($10). If you plan to launch a boat you will need a permit. Not sure about other options as far…

About the only time you can fish Pawhuska from the bank is when they drop the lake for trout season. There is no cost to fish it.

I know, I will have to try it out this fall when the temps drop a bit. Can you fish it from the bank at all, and is there a cost to fish it?

Oh brother, Zach living in Northeast Oklahoma and having not fished this lake before......Let me tell you. A spring fed 90 Acres of Heaven. The wildlife department comes in and stocks trout every other week from November until the end of March (bl…
