Fly fishing only or conventional fishing only

Lately I have been thinking bout what should I conserve more time for fly fishing only or conventional fishing. I have been thinking about being only a fly fisherman because thats what im loving more and more everyday. but forwards as conventional fishing thats what I have known every since I first started fishing so thats alot of fishing. but I think I might go towards fly fishing only because you just dont see a warmwater fly fishing everyday you know.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? please let me… Continue

a learning experienc

went fishin on saturday didnt do so well only caught a hybrid green sunfish and it was all for that day of fishing but im learned from my mistakes and they will be fixed thats why i would rather fish by myself and catch nothing then to be in a crowd and catch alot of something. you know that is one of my favorite qoutes and life lessons which is true.~ Tobias

white bass action

went fishin' today did ok I only caught two white bass on some roadrunners off in a creek out from the main river the fish were in that pre-spawn mode which was kind of surprisin' considerin' how cold it still was and how fat they were for there size. but it was worth lossin' a couple of jigs and hangin' up some times. but they were hugged to the bottom of the creek and they were at the openin' of the creek, I think they were followin' them shads around and the water in the creek was obviousl

amused but then again humbled

I went fishing saturday with some family members, and we had a blast. I decided to bring my UL's with me so I can test them out and break them in. it was a good dicision because although I didnt catch much, my UL's did the job of pulling in 1 shellcracker (redear sunfish) and 2 Bluegill but only one bluegill was big enough to keep. well all and all, it was a good but slow day of fishing but from my perspective it was still fun and humbling at the same time I geuss.

Keep Fishing. Keep Fishing Ha… Continue

Thanks for listening and letting me vent my frustration on this subject. I will be going back in about two weeks, that should give it time to clear, providing he does not dump more fertilize in the lake. As long as he is doing this the fishing will be slow.

I agree with you that fertilize lakes produce larger fish---but my complaint is why does these people at this lake continue to dump fertilize into the lake every two week until the end of September? They told me that if they can see a foot down in the water that they need to fertilize to keep the water from becoming clear and to slow vegetation. I think this is non sense. The game and fish in Alabama said that you only need to fertilize four or five times a year starting in June through August. This type of fertilizing hampers the fishing to the point that the fish have trouble seeing your fly.

They are a very different fish I'll say that. The best I have figured so far is that they like the bottom and live bait, not to say that they wont strike an artificial, it takes some real skill though from what I can gather and I really admire those…

I am still trying to figure out how to fish for Redear. I have not had much luck with them. The seem to be pretty smart. Do you have tricks you would like to share on catching these guys? Did you happen to get the weight of any of these fish?

They fight just like a big bluegill. I am told you can eat them but haven't tried yet. The ones we caught today went to a friend who has a pet shop. I wouldn't mind trying them though. They are local to south Texas and I would imagine that they eat…

Bank access has improved since they began stocking trout back in the late 90's. As of now State regs require a trout license to fish it during the season ($10). If you plan to launch a boat you will need a permit. Not sure about other options as far…

About the only time you can fish Pawhuska from the bank is when they drop the lake for trout season. There is no cost to fish it.

I know, I will have to try it out this fall when the temps drop a bit. Can you fish it from the bank at all, and is there a cost to fish it?
