catfish squeak

Any time I catch a catfish it makes a weird squeaking noise. Never heard any noise from a bluegill. Has anyone else heard bluegill make a noise?

Hey Guys! T-Shirts being Made.

Wish you would make them in tank tops, it's too hot in TX for sleeves.

Thanks, I have started over with an old raccoon trap. First trap doesn't work very well
yesterday
I redesigned my fish trap to look more like the ones that are sold online. They shouldn't be able to get out, if they can get past the ceramic flap I put in from of the tunnel. It may be too heavy
yesterday
And it is usually about 1 lb
on Tuesday
I don't use the trap anymore, as it only catches the adults, which I want to leave in the pond. I use a net and catch them while they are feeding. They are all FHM.
on Tuesday
how many is that usally and do you leave the trap in all week or just Thursday night, also are they mainly FHM or a mixture?
on Tuesday
Yes, on Fri I move a load to either the pond or the creek.
on Tuesday
yes
on Tuesday
Are you still moving minnows from this pond? Have not seen any new pics so just wondering how the fishing is going.
on Tuesday
Me too Zach, wonder where he's comment went? Got away like a fish?
on Tuesday
I have made a fish trap out of a rabbit hutch. Has a wire tunnel that is sqeezed flat to about 1" at the end with a nylon stocking over it with the end cut off so they can't get back out. So far, I have only caught 1 bg, and 3 catfish. I have a can…
on Monday
Sure did. The water in the bag was the same as the creek before I put them in. Strangely, they all swam away, but seemed to need oxygen and were gulping at the water surface. Haven't seen any more dead ones though.
on Monday
Very Impressive
on Monday
Beautiful fish, don't think I've ever seen one so dark
on Sunday
you are covering up the blue gill, Sarah
on Saturday
I'm the only person on BBG this morning. Have to go get more fishing line, then I'll join you fishing.
on Saturday
Due to the lack of rain here, my pond is down about 2', and I now can see what appears to be old bluegill nesting sites. At least they appear old because there is lots of debris in them, and no male bluegill that I can see. Is it too late for spawni…

Bluegills like clams

I have found that pieces of clams work well as bluegill bait. Don't get minced clams as they are too small. Also small elbow macaroni cooked half the time recommended, and then cooked in clam juice until the clam juice is almost gone works very well too. It looks like a larvae, they love it.

fish identification

Could those of you lucky enough to catch fish, photograph them, and put online here, please identify what they are for those of us still ignorant? I'm still trying to guess the different types of BG, and am usually wrong the few times they are identified.

Thank you,
Sharon

They are a very different fish I'll say that. The best I have figured so far is that they like the bottom and live bait, not to say that they wont strike an artificial, it takes some real skill though from what I can gather and I really admire those…

I was kind of worried about that, but I have seen some variations of Hybrids look this way, or at least that is what was posted on the internet. We always called these black pearch. To be honest I do not think the Green Sunfish have the yellow bel…

I am still trying to figure out how to fish for Redear. I have not had much luck with them. The seem to be pretty smart. Do you have tricks you would like to share on catching these guys? Did you happen to get the weight of any of these fish?

They fight just like a big bluegill. I am told you can eat them but haven't tried yet. The ones we caught today went to a friend who has a pet shop. I wouldn't mind trying them though. They are local to south Texas and I would imagine that they eat…

Oops sorry Zach I forgot about need a trout stamp on your license.

Bank access has improved since they began stocking trout back in the late 90's. As of now State regs require a trout license to fish it during the season ($10). If you plan to launch a boat you will need a permit. Not sure about other options as far…

About the only time you can fish Pawhuska from the bank is when they drop the lake for trout season. There is no cost to fish it.

I know, I will have to try it out this fall when the temps drop a bit. Can you fish it from the bank at all, and is there a cost to fish it?
