Back to same pond 2 weeks ago after the big Dallas snowstorm (12 inches). Kind of fun casting in the snow in Dallas on a beautiful sunny day. I believe the fish were still too 'freaked out' to be interested in my flies. Last week, I had better luck.…

A couple of books that I have recommend micro-jigs - especially in the winter. Maybe black or olive marabou. But I tied a few and don't like the way they cast.

I caught a few small ones on Saturday afternoon in a local nature area. I wasn't sure that there were even fish in the pond anymore. I tried several locations around the main pond and got a little interest but no bites. Then I found an area where a…

They have been good at my local Cabelas in helping with line problems and occassional spooling. I can't imagine going into the backing for a bluegill, but I guess I just follow custom. About 50' of backing, lines are about 90 - 100'. Leader and tipp…

Hi Richard...I don't exactly know what might have caused the problems last evening when you were trying to post. Keep trying, and let us know if there continues to be a problem.

My sugar magnolia is essentially a #10 fly (I'm going to try micro jig heads) with white marabout and tan dubbing.

Thank you. I love fly fishing. And inland Texas is where I live and will probably be for a while. I think that it was Steven Stills who penned the song 'Love the one your with' if you know what I mean. I can find bluegill around here and catch them on a flyrod!

They are a very different fish I'll say that. The best I have figured so far is that they like the bottom and live bait, not to say that they wont strike an artificial, it takes some real skill though from what I can gather and I really admire those…

I am still trying to figure out how to fish for Redear. I have not had much luck with them. The seem to be pretty smart. Do you have tricks you would like to share on catching these guys? Did you happen to get the weight of any of these fish?

They fight just like a big bluegill. I am told you can eat them but haven't tried yet. The ones we caught today went to a friend who has a pet shop. I wouldn't mind trying them though. They are local to south Texas and I would imagine that they eat…

Bank access has improved since they began stocking trout back in the late 90's. As of now State regs require a trout license to fish it during the season ($10). If you plan to launch a boat you will need a permit. Not sure about other options as far…

About the only time you can fish Pawhuska from the bank is when they drop the lake for trout season. There is no cost to fish it.

I know, I will have to try it out this fall when the temps drop a bit. Can you fish it from the bank at all, and is there a cost to fish it?
