Great looking island Rick, I really like the use of foam to support the plants instead of dirt, I ended up putting 100lbs of peat and dirt on my small island.
Larry,
I would love to see you make the trip! A pond I call "The Factory" regularly yields 9"-11" gills...mostly 9-9 1/2" fish. Every friend I've taken there has caught their "all time best" gill on their first outing there. You wouldn't even need gear...I would supply fly rods & flies, & if you haven't yet fly fished, you can learn very quickly. I would imagine you DO fly fish, given your location & the species in your pond, but if you don't, you can learn in a very short time.
Mike
Larry,
I don't ice fish, so I will get out infrequently for a few trout or steelhead, but mostly tie flies & get fly rods, reels, & lines ready for the Spring.
If you get the chance to come to Canton Ohio, let me know & we'll catch a mess of big gills!
Mike
Larry,
That's a BEAUTIFUL pond, made even more beautiful by it's "natural" state. I just love ponds like that....it does nothing but add to to the fishing experience.
Thanks for sharing it with us!
Mike
