I use live bait alot....small crawfish mostly...the big ones love them!! I do also use small spoons trailed with power grubs or night crawlers and the rebel crawfish lure.
Even though these work pretty good for me..Im always looking for other lures…
While fishing for 'gills with nightcrawlers I caught this 18-inch white sucker. I was using a light rod with 6-lb test so it took me a few minutes to get him in and on the dock. Really cool fish.
As an afterthought, I started to fish freshwater because I have nephews and nieces who have only fished fresh water. This end of day releasing of the crickets came to me as a way to lighten up a bad day of fishing. No matter what happens during the…
I admit that i am a novice with freshwater fishing. Even I have had some success with catching bluegills with minnows and crickets. I guess it is the kid in me, but I get a kick out of putting a criket on a hook and plopping him on the water with a…
its pink jig with a chartruese crawfish/creature bait, i think its gonna be a hot lure this spring and summer. its actually two lures put together that i bought from wal-mart. the jig came with a white grub on it.
Hey Josh...check out photos 19 and 20 on my page...it shows a small floating Rapala with a wet fly tied about 10 to 12 inches on the trailer hook, better if you remove the back treble and tie 6 lb test directly to the split ring. Experiment with the length of th leader behind the lure. Also, check out my blog on the Tail-Gunner Tactics. Other small crankbaits wok well, too.
I promise I'll keep this website "kid friendly". If you ever see anything that seems inappropriate please let me know immediately and I'll get rid of it ASAP!!! I'd love to have more kids on this site because bluegill fishing is for everybody. :-)
Aw shucks there I go making a fool out of myself on line again. Sorry about the whole rooked thing, I saw that was on a different post of one of your pics Zach. I'm a little paranoid about Google, so thats where that came from. I've gotta work on my…
They are a very different fish I'll say that. The best I have figured so far is that they like the bottom and live bait, not to say that they wont strike an artificial, it takes some real skill though from what I can gather and I really admire those…
I was kind of worried about that, but I have seen some variations of Hybrids look this way, or at least that is what was posted on the internet.
We always called these black pearch.
To be honest I do not think the Green Sunfish have the yellow bel…
I am still trying to figure out how to fish for Redear. I have not had much luck with them. The seem to be pretty smart.
Do you have tricks you would like to share on catching these guys?
Did you happen to get the weight of any of these fish?
They fight just like a big bluegill. I am told you can eat them but haven't tried yet. The ones we caught today went to a friend who has a pet shop. I wouldn't mind trying them though. They are local to south Texas and I would imagine that they eat…
Bank access has improved since they began stocking trout back in the late 90's. As of now State regs require a trout license to fish it during the season ($10). If you plan to launch a boat you will need a permit. Not sure about other options as far…
Oh brother, Zach living in Northeast Oklahoma and having not fished this lake before......Let me tell you.
A spring fed 90 Acres of Heaven.
The wildlife department comes in and stocks trout every other week from November until the end of March (bl…
